The best things to do
on Koh Chang

Days without agendas, still full of wonder. Everything worth exploring on Thailand's most beautifully unhurried island.

📅 May 2025 🕐 6 min read 📍 Koh Chang, Thailand

Koh Chang moves at its own pace — and that's exactly the point. Whether you're a first-timer or returning for your third visit, the island has a way of revealing something new each time you look up from your hammock.

Things to do

Explore, unwind, repeat

From jungle waterfalls to coral reefs, long-tail boat rides to lazy beach walks, here are our favourite ways to spend your days — all easily reached from SAGA.

01

🌊 Klong Prao Beach

Just 50 metres from SAGA's front door, Klong Prao is one of the island's most beautiful stretches of sand — wide, quiet, and shaded by casuarina trees. Watch the sunrise with a coffee in hand, or catch the golden-hour glow in the evening.

✦ Perfect for: morning walks & sunset drinks
02

🌿 Klong Plu Waterfall

Head into the jungle interior and follow the trail to Klong Plu — a stunning multi-tiered waterfall tucked inside Mu Ko Chang National Park. The natural pool at its base is ideal for a cool swim away from the beach crowds.

✦ Best time: morning, before tour groups arrive
03

🐠 Snorkelling & diving

The waters around Koh Chang and its neighbouring islands — Koh Wai, Koh Rang, Koh Kood — are home to vibrant coral reefs and plenty of marine life. Day trips by speedboat or long-tail can be arranged easily from the beach.

✦ Don't miss: Koh Rang for the best coral visibility
04

🚥 Kayaking the mangroves

Paddle quietly through the mangrove channels at the southern end of Klong Prao and you'll feel a world away from everything. Keep an eye out for kingfishers, monitor lizards, and the occasional river otter.

✦ Rent kayaks just minutes from SAGA
05

🍜 Eat your way around the island

From roadside papaya salad stalls to candlelit seafood restaurants right on the sand, Koh Chang's food scene is a genuine highlight. Try the fresh whole fish grilled with lemongrass, or the local crab curries the island is quietly famous for.

🥁 Slow mornings at SAGA

Not everything needs to be an expedition. Some of the best moments on Koh Chang happen right here — a long breakfast, an afternoon by the pool, and the particular quiet of a tropical afternoon that somehow makes everything feel lighter.
